Spicy Whiskey Sliders

Spicy Whiskey Sliders

I totally spaced posting this recipe in time for St. Patty’s Day, but luckily for you it’s good for any ol’ day!

This recipe is adapted by non other than my spirit animal, foodie counterpart, down home ranch momma, and ‘OG’ Ree Drummond.

I love this recipe so much. We’ve used it for Super Bowl, Fight Nights, Movie Nights and now NASCAR….Yes Nascar. We celebrated the Daytona 500 with Spicy Whiskey Sliders, Pork Fries, and the champagne of beers Miller High Life. It was a super classy affair.

Super easy and quick for a hungry crowd and they never disappoint. This recipe will make up to 24 sliders but I made them doubles so it made 12 perfect sliders.

I added my own twist to this recipe. One of my favorite things to add to any home cooked burger or slider is minced bacon. Use leftover crisped up bacon and mince in a food processor and add it to you ground meat of choice. It adds an extra savory element to any burger.

Whether it’s for a get together or holiday, these sliders are good for any day!

Recipe Adapted from http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/spicy-whiskey-bbq-sliders/, with a few twists. Minced bacon in the patty creates a smoky salty depth of flavor. I like my patties smashed and thin for doubles and you gotta add cheese to these! I always use King's Hawaiian Buns for my sliders and they toast up in your oven on broil in minutes. Just make sure to keep an eye on them!

Ingredients
  • 6 slices Bacon, cooked and minced
  • 1 pound Bison
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt and Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 whole Onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup Whiskey
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Jarred Sliced Jalapenos
  • 6 slices Muenster Cheese, cut into quarters
  • 1 package {12 rolls} Kings Hawaiian Rolls, split and toasted in the oven
Directions
  • Step 1 In a large mixing bowl combine minced bacon, bison, ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix until just combined and form your patties into 24 thin patties for doubles or 12 if you like bigger single sliders.
  • Step 2 In a large cast iron skillet heat olive oil over medium high heat and cook patties in batches until all are cooked. About 2-3 minutes a side. Remove to a pan to relax while you make the sauce.
  • Step 3 Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook until soft and slightly caramelized, about 3 minutes. Turn heat to low and add the whiskey in to deglaze the pan. {Do this carefully if you cook with a gas stove. Turn heat off if need be to avoid flare ups.}
  • Step 4 Simmer and reduce the whiskey, about 2 minutes. Stir in bbq sauce and jalapenos. Simmer for 2 more minutes. Add the patties back into the pan and flip to coat in sauce. Add a slice of cheese to each slider and use a spatula to place on a toasted slider roll. {I always use King’s Hawaiian Buns for my sliders and they toast up in your oven on broil in minutes.}
  • Step 5 Top with extra sauce and serve immediately. Enjoy!
