Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus is an elegant and tasty way to impress guests and they always seem to go with everything on the dinner table. I personally consumed this whole plate just for dinner. I call them ‘prosciutto snacks’, like Scooby snacks, but tastier.

They tell me Winter is coming and the holidays will be here before we know it. So I’m getting a jump on Holiday Meal Planning. Which is essential to having those flawless holiday dinner parties. This will be the easiest side sitting on your table.

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

You can double or triple this recipe to fit your number of guests, I’ve even cut the asparagus and prosciutto in smaller bite size pieces to serve as appetizers. Finger food can be elegant too. I do always have to buy more prosciutto than asparagus though, if you’re buying in packs it’s usually only 3 ounces. You can always go to your deli and ask them to slice you the same amount of prosciutto slices to match the amount of asparagus.

Prosciutto can be bought in 3 ounce packages typically found around your deli section of the grocery store. They’re already pre-sliced and easy to separate because of the wax paper between each slice.

Ingredients
  • 2 packs {3 ounces each} Thinly Sliced Prosciutto
  • 1 bundle Asparagus
  • Olive Oil for drizzling
  • Ground Black Pepper, for seasoning
Directions
  • Step 1 Trim your asparagus ends and start rolling each individual spear in a thinly slice of prosciutto. Start with one end and diagonally wrap the asparagus so it covers the whole surface evenly.
  • Step 2 Drizzle prosciutto wrapped asparagus with olive oil and season with ground black pepper. Because the prosciutto is already salty there’s no need to salt the asparagus, just some pepper will do for seasoning.
  • Step 3 Preheat a griddle or a large pan to medium high heat. Cook asparagus 2 minutes, turning the asparagus halfway through for even crispiness on all sides.
  • Step 4 Remove and serve immediately.

Wrap them up tight and these lovely spears are ready to get crispy.

You can most certainly cook these on a griddle, large pan or even on the grill if you so choose. High heat is key and turn them to cook 2 minutes each side until crispy.

Just forewarning, your kitchen will smell ridiculously good.
