Perfect Dinner Rolls

Perfect Dinner Rolls

Perfect Dinner Rolls will be on your next holiday table. Simple yeast rolls that you can prep ahead of time and have them come out of the oven just in time for dinner. There’s nothing better than a warm roll with butter.

Also, did I mention there’s cheese in these rolls and the honey butter topping isn’t half bad either. Okay, they’re addicting, but you want carbs that are addictive around the holidays. Right?

Calories don’t count on a holiday.

Easy to bake in a cast iron skillet, pie pan, or free form and bake on a sheet pan. If you’d like to prepare these ahead of time, you can prepare everything up until the point of baking and cover tightly with plastic wrap and freeze overnight. Freezing will stop the growth of the yeast and they won’t puff up like the blob. Remove from the freezer a hour before desired baking time and allow to come to room temperature before baking.

I love using the rapid rise yeast packets, it cuts your prep and rising time in half. If you'd like to prepare these ahead of time you can freeze the formed rolls prior to baking. Just allow for the rolls to come back to room temperature before baking them off.

By:

Ingredients
  • 1 package {1/4 ounce} Rapid-Rise Yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 3/4 cup Warm Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 2 to 2-1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons Honey
Directions
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 2 In your stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment combine yeast, warm water and honey. Allow to bloom, about 5 minutes. Add kosher salt, melted butter and slowly begin adding the flour while mixing. Alternate between adding flour and the shredded cheddar cheese. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes until dough comes together and is smooth and elastic.
  • Step 3 Turn onto a lightly floured surface
  • Step 4 knead dough, about 5 minutes. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Shape each into a ball. Space as evenly as possible in a greased 9 inch round baking pan. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake rolls in preheated oven for 13-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Step 5 Whisk together 4 tablespoons melted butter and honey. Brush over warm rolls. Allow rolls to cool on a wire rack. Invert the pan and pull apart to serve. Enjoy!

Savor and Enjoy!
