Summer Plum Clafoutis

Summer Plum Clafoutis

Summer Plum Clafoutis should be given an award. This is a sweet, savory summer dessert that would be a sin not to make during plum season.

Clafoutis, {kla-foo-tee}, is traditionally made with cherries, but I couldn’t resist making this with gorgeous red plums I scored at the market. You can really make this with whatever berry or stone fruit you like. It’s a good sturdy custard so it can hold up to anything you throw at it.

I love making summer fruit dishes. It’s fresh and just comforting enough. Especially on a warm day when a scoop of ice cream on top is all you need to cool everything down. August is also a great month for plums, they’re ripe, sweet and just tart enough to bake with.

Enjoy this on your back patio with a cold glass of prosecco. It is truly heaven on earth. Serve with ice cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

This is a delicious French custard that can be served with any variety of fresh summer fruit. Traditionally made with fresh pitted cherries, but this is a nice twist on a very fresh summer dish.
